A film created by Lawrence Bush of Jewish Currents magazine in cooperation with The Shalom Center. What would it mean to hammer out justice for the earth? This is the first in an on-going monthly series of films.

In January 2009, Rabbi Arthur Waskow, director of The Shalom Center, spoke at the annual gathering of Ohalah in Boulder. He spoke on the three major crises now facing the human race and the web of life on our planet. Ohalah is the association of rabbis committed to work for Jewish renewal – self-described as not a denomination but an orientation to Jewish life, open to people from all streams of Judaism. Perhaps the simplest label for its approach is “feminist Hassidism.” His talk was tape-recorded by David Krieger, who graciously made the recording available to The Shalom Center. The talk is preceded and followed by the melody of “Ufros alenu sukkat shlomekha, Spread Over All of Us the Sukkah of Shalom,” composed by Rabbi Aryeh Hirschfield, may his memory be a blessing. The chant was led by Rabbi Eli Cohen. For more information on Rabbi Waskow’s approach to healing the world, see The Shalom Center’s website at www.shalomctr.org and a number of videos on the The Shalom Center’s region of YouTube. The Shalom Center sends out each week an on-line Shalom Report. To subscribe (free) go to the website and click on Subscribe halfway down the right-hand margin. See also Rabbi Waskows books eg The Tent of Abraham (co-authored with Sister Joan Chittister and Murshid Saadi Shakur Chisti); Godwrestling — Round 2; and Down-to-Earth Judaism: Food, Money, Sex, & the Rest of Life . All are available at discounts: write Office@shalomctr.org
